Is technology in the classroom harmful?

What the research says

  • Teachers/administration aren’t researching the technology programs they are using before implementing them in classrooms, which can be harmful for the students.
  • Not researching programs can lead to wasting time, money, and resources.  Not to mention valuable classroom time and student time.
  • It is important that teachers still teach their students the traditional way, through lecture and books.
  • It takes time to train teachers and not all schools have the resources to train their employees or get computers.
  • We need to look seriously at the value of the technology we use in the classroom and if it is educationally beneficial and worth our students time.
  • All schools do not have the same access to technology or the same resources for technology in their classrooms, they also may not have training for technology for their teachers.
  • Some technology can also be more of a distraction and not a teaching tool if it is not researched enough.
